Fleet Manager.

FULL TIME

Eikenhout is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to work out of the corporate offices and manage the fleet across all Michigan locations. This person will be responsible for the overall maintenance, compliance and utilization of Eikenhout's fleet assets. This position works closely with operations management throughout the company to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective operations of company vehicles, trailers, material handling and lifting equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate fleet operations across all Eikenhout locations in Michigan, partnering with branch leaders to support delivery and operational needs.
  • Manage fleet maintenance and compliance programs, including preventive maintenance, DVIR review, repair authorization, manufacturer recalls, service campaigns, required records, and return-to-service decisions.
  • Manage fleet scheduling, spare-vehicle assignments, and response to breakdowns, accidents, repairs, and other disruptions to maintain operational continuity and minimize service interruptions.
  • Manage the fleet asset lifecycle by evaluating purchases, replacements, specifications, utilization, condition, deployment, and disposal; coordinate new-asset implementation, graphics, certifications, technology installation, documentation, and retired-asset offboarding.
  • Advise branch leaders on fleet-maintenance compliance and coordinate inspections, service priorities, warranty claims, vendors, and repairs that support safety, asset conditions, operational needs, cost control, and a professional company image.
  • Develop and manage the fleet budget; oversee fuel, tire, warranty, vendor, estimate, invoice, and repair expenditures; and identify opportunities to control costs and reduce waste or misuse.
  • Oversee fleet technology and performance reporting, including cameras, GPS, telematics, system implementation, vendor support, data analysis, leadership reporting, and continuous-improvement recommendations.
  • Manage auto claims and coordinate incident documentation, insurance communication, repair activity, and internal follow-up with appropriate departments.
  • Manage MS150 registry requirements and promote company safety initiatives and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Administer Federal Highway Use Tax (Form 2290), licensing, registrations, permits, fuel programs, and related documentation

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; postsecondary education in fleet management, transportation, logistics, business, or related field preferred.
  • A defined number of years of progressively responsible fleet, transportation, maintenance, or operations management experience.
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicles, fleet maintenance practices, transportation operations, and applicable DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • CDL A endorsement, preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required crane certification and approval as a crane proctor, including the ability to teach crane-safety content and administer required written and practical examinations.
    • Experience managing maintenance vendors and service providers.
    • Strong analytical, estimating, invoice-review, problem-solving, communication, instruction, and leadership skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and fleet management systems, including Fleetio.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities and support multiple locations.
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; ability to operate company vehicles and equipment as needed and remain eligible to drive under the company's insurance requirements.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability and willingness to travel regularly among branch locations and vendor or training sites as needed.
    • Ability to inspect vehicles and equipment in warehouses, yards, and field environments and work in varying weather conditions.
    • DOT Medical Certification
