The ideal candidate takes pride in their craftsmanship, works safely and efficiently, and understands what it means to be a dependable member of a high-performing construction team. You’ll work alongside experienced field professionals while having opportunities to expand your skills, take on additional responsibilities, and grow your career with AOI.

What You'll Do

  • Read, interpret, and execute blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install commercial construction materials.
  • Perform commercial interior carpentry, including rough and finish work, metal framing, drywall, doors, trim, hardware, prefabricated frames, and related components.

  • Ensure quality and accuracy by using lasers, levels, framing squares, and other tools to verify alignment, measurements, and workmanship while identifying and communicating potential issues.
  • Protect and maintain the jobsite by safeguarding existing finishes and client property, minimizing disruption in occupied spaces, and maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Collaborate with field teams including Lead Installers, Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors, and other personnel to meet project schedules, quality standards, and client expectations.
  • Champion safety and craftsmanship by following AOI and OSHA requirements, properly using PPE and tools, maintaining high-quality workmanship, and taking ownership of the safety, cleanliness, and success of each jobsite.

What We're Looking For

  •  3 or more years of commercial carpentry experience; commercial interior experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial carpentry, construction, and trade practices, with the ability to install drywall, trim, doors, metal framing, hardware, and related components to AOI standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements and accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install construction materials.
  • Proficient in the safe and effective use of hand tools, power tools, lasers, and other construction equipment.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, with a commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and maintaining a professional jobsite.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of people, follow written and verbal instructions, and collaborate with coworkers, clients, and other jobsite personnel.
  • Valid Iowa or Nebraska driver's license required. OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, Fire Extinguisher, laser, and power tool certifications are preferred but not required; AOI will assist employees in obtaining certifications.

  • A trusted General Contractor with a 40-year legacy, built on integrity, craftsmanship, and lasting client relationships.
  • A collaborative team environment working alongside AOI's Furniture and Prefabricated Interiors divisions to deliver complete commercial solutions.
  • Variety and opportunity, with projects that allow you to apply your skills, learn new methods, and grow your career.
