Who We Are: The Timothy School is the oldest non-profit approved private school in Pennsylvania devoted exclusively to teaching students with autism. For over 60 years, we have worked to develop an understanding of autism that recognizes the strengths and uniqueness of our children and the specialized methods needed to expand their educational opportunities.
Job Snap Shot: The Reading Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of The Timothy School’s formal reading program by partnering with teachers to ensure that their education plans align with the reading program’s goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- PDE Special Education/Educational Specialist Level II Certification
- Experience working within an autistic support program
- Experience with literacy instruction
Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with teachers implementing a formal language arts/reading plan to review materials, adaptations, assessments and forms, and suggest revisions as necessary
- Coordinate the language arts/reading program with existing models of instruction (e.g. structured teaching)
- Inventory all materials related to the reading program and submit orders for additional materials as needed
- Conduct assessments, adapt curriculum, and coach staff to support student progress in one-on-one or small group settings
- Maintain student confidentiality in compliance with The Family Rights and Privacy Act
- Complete additional duties as assigned and attend all required staff & parent meetings
