Agency: Weber Shandwick Job Function: Communications and PR Job Subfunction: Public Relations Job Description: About Weber Shandwick Weber Shandwick is a global "earned-first" communications network. We deliver award-winning campaigns that blend creative storytelling, data-driven insights, and stakeholder value. In a fast-moving, complex media landscape, we help brands break through the blur by creating cultural relevance and driving real business impact. The Role Weber Shandwick is looking for a Director of Client Experience to join our West Technology practice to support clients ranging from the most influential tech brands in the world to fast-growing disruptors. This role is designed for someone who is passionate about how technology is reshaping how we work and live and obsessively follows how the industry is rapidly evolving. You understand that today's storytelling requires a sophisticated, integrated approach that extends beyond traditional media relations to encompass social media, influencer engagement, and owned content. You will have expertise in AI, computing, and/or enterprise technology, with a proven ability to distill complex concepts into clear and compelling narratives at the intersection of business, technology, and culture. As a Director, you will help manage our partnerships with top-tier tech clients and collaborate across cross-functional teams to drive impact and agility. You will architect high-impact media strategies, counsel C-suite executives, and leverage our proprietary tools to build campaigns that win in culture. You will not just pitch stories; you will shape the strategic narratives that define the future of technology. Key Responsibilities Earned Media Strategy & Execution: Design and execute proactive, integrated earned media campaigns that align with client business objectives. Secure top-tier business, financial, and tech trade coverage. Strategic Client Counsel: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior clients. Provide real-time counsel on media landscape shifts, crisis/issues management, and executive visibility opportunities. Narrative & Message Development: Translate complex, highly technical B2B products and services into compelling, culturally resonant stories that appeal to both technical decision-makers and the broader business community. Integrated Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with Weber I/O (analytics and AI) and Weber Create (integrated media and influencers) to ensure earned media is machine-readable, optimized for search, and integrated into broader marketing ecosystems. Media Relations: Maintain and continuously cultivate deep relationships with key journalists, editors, and analysts at top-tier business and technology publications. Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and inspire junior Technology team members. Guide their professional development and ensure excellence in execution across all account operations. Business Development: Play a critical role in agency growth by contributing strategic media insights and participating in new business pitches for the Tech Practice. Qualifications & Skills Experience: 8–10 years of experience in public relations, communications, or journalism, with a heavy emphasis on B2B technology within an agency environment. Media Prowess: A proven track record of securing high-profile placements in top-tier business (e.g., WSJ, Bloomberg, CNBC) and technology trade publications. Deep, active relationships with key tech reporters. Strategic Thinking: Exceptional ability to connect macroeconomic trends and cultural moments with enterprise tech narratives. Writing Excellence: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft compelling pitches, bylines, press releases, and executive briefing materials. Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing and developing junior talent, with a collaborative approach to working across cross-functional teams. Agility: A high degree of adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed, global agency environment. Salary Range: $105,000-$135,000 Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
