A little about the role

As Learning & Development Consultant - Claims & Recoveries, you will own technical learning, onboarding and development plans for the Claims and Recoveries teams during a 12 month fixed-term opportunity. Based in Perth with a national remit, you will partner closely with Claims and Recoveries leaders, subject matter experts and the Organisational Capability team to build consistent, practical learning experiences.

A key focus will be supporting the transition to our new claims system, Duck Creek, and associated process changes. You will translate new and existing processes into formal training packs, learning guides, work instructions and job aids, while creating checkpoints, knowledge checks and competency validation activities that confirm learning transfer.

You will also help shape what development looks like across Claims and Recoveries by creating role-based learning pathways and a clear career tree, identifying capability gaps through operational indicators and research insights, host focus sessions to upskilling team members whilst continuously improving content and outcomes.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced Claims professional who can combine technical credibility with practical learning design, facilitation and strong stakeholder partnership.

What’s essential

  • Proven ability to develop learning materials including eLearning courses, process documentation, job aids, work instructions and technical reference guides.
  • Ability to create visually engaging content which is clearly understood and aligns with Capricorn’s branding and style guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across Claims leadership, operational teams, subject matter experts and Learning and Development.
  • Experience delivering knowledge-sharing sessions or training, explaining complex concepts in simple, practical terms.
  • Experience building or transferring capability through training, side-by-side coaching, onboarding or upskilling employees.
  • Ability to assess learning needs, create knowledge checks and checkpoints, and evaluate capability, progress and training effectiveness.
  • Strong planning, organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across a national remit.

Highly regarded

  • Experience supporting system, technology or operational change, including translating new processes into formal learning materials.
  • Experience within a claims team, insurance or financial services industry, with a strong knowledge of their processes, systems, policies and procedures.
  • Experience using research insights, learner feedback and operational indicators to improve learning content and development pathways.
  • Experience with learning platforms and authoring tools such as Articulate, the Learning Hub or similar systems.

Qualifications

A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable.
