[1, 2] Intracranial Pressure (ICP) & Drain Management: Monitor and maintain specialized devices such as external ventricular drains (EVDs), lumbar drains, bolts, and sub-dural drains. [1, 2, 3] Tight Physiological Control: Administer specialized medications and continuous infusions to manage cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP), blood pressure parameters, seizures, and sedation. [1, 2] Emergency Interventions & Diagnostics: Accompany unstable patients to CT or MRI scans, assist physicians with bedside procedures, and rapidly spot early signs of brain herniation or stroke extension. [1, 2, 3] Multiorgan & General Critical Care: Manage the patient's entire clinical picture, including ventilators, cardiac rhythms, renal function, skin integrity, and nutrition, just like a standard ICU. [1, 2] Family Support & Communication: Update families frequently on volatile prognoses, neurological changes, and complex care goals.
