We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic server to join our team. As a Server at Farmstead, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests, ensuring their dining experience is memorable and enjoyable. You will work in a fast-paced environment in both the restaurant and wine bar, assisting guests with menu selections, taking orders, delivering food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and seat guests in a friendly, professional manner
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the restaurant’s menu and wine list, including any daily or seasonal offerings
- Provide exceptional service by promptly taking food and beverage orders and answering menu questions
- Offer recommendations, including upselling wine, cocktails and beverage options
- Maintain a polished appearance and positive attitude
- Deliver food and beverages promptly and accurately
- Ensure guest satisfaction by checking in regularly and addressing any concerns
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including resetting tables and refilling drinks
- Perform opening and closing procedures, as well as assigned side work
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen, expediter and other staff members to ensure seamless service
- Collaborate with Chefs to manage special requests, allergies and dietary restrictions
- Operate the POS system efficiently including orders and payments
- Uphold Farmstead's high standards of hospitality, food quality, and presentation
- Adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines
Education, Experience and Required Skills:
- Previous experience as a server in a fine-dining or fast-paced environment required
- Ability to learn and execute point of sale computer software procedures
- Food Handler's certification
- Must possess a valid California RBS Certification at the time of interview, applicants without a current certification will not be considered
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to upsell menu items with sincerity and confidence
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality service
- Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with unexpected situations
- Must be able to lift, balance, and carry plates of food
- Must be able to lift cases of wine on a daily basis
- Must be able to use both hands to handle, grasp, move and control objects, tools and equipment operations
- Must be able to bend or twist body
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Compensation and Benefits
- Part-time hourly position
- Compensation: $16.90 per hour plus tips
- Retirement Savings (401k) includes generous company matching
