Position Responsibilities:

Our client is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer with leadership potential to help shape and drive the next generation of large-scale moving structures. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on from early concept through installation, playing a critical role in the development of kinetic systems that are prominent and publicly experienced.

The selected individual will be a technical leader on key projects, engaging in everything from concept development and design validation to fabrication oversight and field commissioning. You’ll work closely with a cross-functional team, bringing your analytical problem-solving skills and creative thinking to a wide range of mechanical challenges involving motion, control, and durability.

  • Design intricate mechanical assemblies including gears, actuators, wheels, bearings, and steel weldments
  • Lead and contribute to concept development, detailed design, and engineering analysis
  • Act as Project Engineer on multiple assignments; coordinate design efforts across disciplines
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation, calculations, and system specifications
  • Collaborate with clients to understand needs and deliver innovative solutions
  • Establish project timelines and budgets; track progress throughout the design phase
  • Conduct design reviews with architects, contractors, and engineering partners
  • Ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with electrical and structural components
  • Support procurement and fabrication by defining material and component requirements
  • Oversee prototype builds and testing efforts, including reporting and documentation
  • Conduct on-site inspections of manufacturing and vendor-supplied parts
  • Continuously look for ways to optimize product performance, cost, aesthetics, and ease of maintenance
  • Provide technical content for documentation, including manuals and marketing materials
  • Author technical articles for external publications as needed

Position requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • EIT certification desirable
  • Background in developing one-off or low-volume mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret client needs into functional mechanical solutions
  • Familiarity with applicable engineering codes and industry standards
  • Strong skills in SolidWorks (CAD and Simulation), MathCAD, and Ansys
  • Proficient in GD&T; working knowledge of motors, actuators, and hydraulic systems is a plus
  • Experience with fabrication processes and/or machine shop environments preferred
  • Hands-on problem solver who enjoys working through system-level mechanical challenges
  • Proven ability to independently manage workload and contribute in a collaborative setting
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally up to 5% for project-related work

Reasons to Apply:

  • Competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits package.
  • Health coverage, retirement plans, and other company-sponsored perks.
  • Generous paid time off, including holidays, to support work-life balance.
  • Flexible schedules and work life balance.
  • Strong focus on employee development with on-the-job training and career growth.
  • A positive company culture that values diversity and collaboration.
