$162.7K–243.8K/YR
An exciting career awaits you At MPC, we’re committed to being a great place to work – one that welcomes new ideas, encourages diverse perspectives, develops our people, and fosters a collaborative team environment. POSITION SUMMARY: The NG, NGLs, and Specialties Optimization Modeling & Technology Manager will lead the development, implementation, and ongoing advancement of digital models and decision-support tools that enable integrated, cross-functional optimization across the NG & NGL value chain. Positioned within the Planning & Optimization organization, this role will connect Commercial, Trading, Operations, Scheduling, Logistics, Finance, Digital/IT, and other stakeholders to translate business decisions, plant capabilities, operating constraints, and value drivers into trusted, technically sound optimization solutions. This role will serve as the primary business and technical liaison between NG & NGLs processing stakeholders, IT teams, and third-party software providers to develop digital tools to support value chain optimization. The role will ensure models accurately represent plant and network processes, data, economics, contracts, and operational constraints; establish model governance and performance standards; and drive adoption, support, training, and continuous improvement so model recommendations are feasible, explainable, and capable of delivering measurable enterprise value. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the development, implementation, and lifecycle management of NG & NGL optimization models, digital tools, and decision-support applications supporting planning horizons from long-range strategy through near-term execution. Serve as the NG & NGL processing and optimization subject matter expert, translating plant configurations, process relationships, operating limits, product recoveries, quality requirements, commercial terms, logistics constraints, and market economics into functional and technical model requirements. Partner closely with Digital/IT, data and architecture teams, and third-party software providers to define solution design, data integration, testing, security, deployment, support, and enhancement requirements while maintaining business ownership of model logic and outcomes. Direct model configuration, calibration, validation, and performance monitoring to ensure recommendations accurately reflect asset capabilities and produce feasible, explainable, and economically sound results across plants, regions, and the enterprise value chain. Coordinate priorities and delivery of the digital tools across Planning & Optimization, Commercial, Trading, Operations, Scheduling, Logistics, Finance, Digital/IT, and other business partners. Partner with IT to manage project scope, resources, risks, milestones, vendor performance, and status reporting for assigned digital initiatives. Own business acceptance and operational readiness, including test-case development, user acceptance testing, recommendation backcasting and validation, defect resolution, production support, and transition from project delivery to sustainable business and IT support models. Develop training, procedures, support playbooks, and technical guidance for business users and support teams. Coach team members and stakeholders in model interpretation, scenario development, appropriate use of recommendations, and continuous improvement of planning processes. Evaluate emerging optimization methods, solvers, analytics, forecasting capabilities, and digital technologies; recommend enhancements that improve scalability, reliability, transparency, decision speed, and value realization across the NG & NGL business. Define and monitor measures for model accuracy, reliability, adoption, decision latency, plan-versus-actual performance, and realized value. Communicate results, limitations, risks, and recommended actions to leadership and key stakeholders. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. A Bachelor's degree in another technical field may be considered with substantial relevant experience in NG/NGL processing, optimization modeling, operations research, planning, commercial, logistics, data analytics, or digital solution development.
