Participants accepted into the Medical Laboratory Scientist Stipend Program receive financial assistance while completing their education and gain the opportunity to transition into a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist position upon successful graduation and completion of applicable certification requirements. What You'll Do As a participant in the Medical Laboratory Scientist Stipend Program, you'll prepare for a rewarding career in laboratory services while building the knowledge and skills needed to support physicians, providers, and clinical teams throughout Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare. Upon successful graduation and completion of applicable certification requirements, you'll have the opportunity to transition into a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist role. Throughout the program, you'll develop the technical knowledge, critical-thinking skills, and professional behaviors necessary to perform accurate and reliable laboratory testing. You'll build a strong foundation in laboratory procedures, quality practices, specimen handling, patient safety, and the interpretation and reporting of laboratory results while preparing for success as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. You will maintain active enrollment in your Medical Laboratory Science program, successfully progress toward graduation, participate in required program activities, and maintain communication regarding your academic progress and anticipated graduation timeline. What You'll Bring You are currently enrolled in a Medical Laboratory Science program and maintain good academic standing. You are committed to completing your education and meeting the certification requirements necessary to begin your career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. You demonstrate professionalism, accountability, attention to detail, and a commitment to learning. Physical Requirements Ability to meet the physical demands associated with Medical Laboratory Science education and future clinical practice. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity and attention to detail. Ability to safely handle laboratory specimens, supplies, and equipment in accordance with established safety practices. Ability to perform duties in a laboratory and clinical environment and respond appropriately to changing priorities and situations. Education, Certifications & Licensure High School Diploma or equivalent required. Current enrollment in a Medical Laboratory Science program required. Successful completion of Medical Laboratory Science program requirements required. Must meet applicable certification requirements for employment as a Medical Laboratory Scientist following graduation. Participants must maintain satisfactory academic progress, comply with all onboarding and program requirements, and remain in good standing throughout the duration of the stipend agreement.
