TrackingMore R&D Trainee - Full-Stack Engineer (Backend) - Bilingual Mandarin.

FULL TIMEINTERNENGINEERING

About CWILL

CWILL (pronounced 'quill') is a post-purchase and retention suite built for Shopify brands. Reduce support tickets, recover lost revenue from returns, and turn one-time buyers into loyal fans — with tools purpose-built for every touchpoint that follows the sale.

About the Role

TrackingMore is CWILL's shipment tracking platform and API, tracking parcels across 1,600+ carriers for e-commerce brands, 3PLs and developers worldwide.

Customer issues, production bug fixes and data support for enterprise customers take up a full engineer's time today. As an R&D Trainee, you'll own much of this work, learning our systems from the inside, while growing into a full-stack engineer.

What You'll Do

Customer Issue Support

  • Investigate and resolve technical issues from user and support tickets, quickly finding the root cause across frontend and backend (data errors, API errors, display problems and more)
  • Classify issues by type and severity, respond quickly to urgent ones and drive fixes to completion
  • Document frequent issues as troubleshooting guides and FAQs to reduce repeat tickets
  • Work with support and product to reproduce problems, and provide data corrections or workarounds when needed

Enterprise Customer Support

  • Prioritize production issues from enterprise customers, track progress and keep stakeholders updated

Product Improvements

  • Build feature improvements and experience upgrades requested by product and operations, from frontend and backend development through testing and release
  • Improve performance, refactor code and reduce technical debt to make the system more stable and responsive
  • Join requirement reviews and give input on technical feasibility

Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field; Class of 2026 or recent graduate
  • Strong programming fundamentals: proficient in at least one backend language (Java, Go, Python, Node.js or PHP), with a good grasp of common data structures and algorithms
  • Frontend basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and at least one framework (React or Vue)
  • Backend fundamentals: HTTP, RESTful API design and MVC; able to build basic APIs on your own
  • At least one relational database (MySQL or PostgreSQL): able to write SQL and understand indexes and transactions
  • Comfortable using Git for version control and team collaboration
  • Good coding habits, with attention to readability and maintainability
  • Strong learner who picks up new technologies quickly and solves problems by reading documentation
  • Clear logical thinking: able to break down problems and explain technical choices
  • Good communication and ownership; you share progress proactively and stay calm under pressure
  • Professional working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English (you will work daily with our engineering team in China)

Nice to Have

  • A complete full-stack project you can show (coursework, competition, open source or internship)
  • Internship experience on a software team
