Mō te tūranga | About the role We’re looking for an Asphalt Laboratory Technician to join our team in Palmerston North. This is a hands-on role where you’ll support the testing and reporting of asphalt and pavement materials to ensure we deliver good work safely, on time, and to a high standard. You’ll be trusted to collect samples, carry out compliant laboratory testing, and help keep our equipment, methods, and results sharp. It’s a role for someone who likes practical work, takes pride in quality, and wants to keep learning in a team that’s flat, friendly, and serious when it counts. Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities Collect samples and complete asphalt and materials testing in line with required specifications and Fulton Hogan lab IANZ requirements. Maintain equipment checks and calibration so the laboratory runs safely, accurately, and efficiently. Analyse results and provide clear reporting for relevant focus areas and clients. Follow all safety, environmental, and quality processes, and speak up when something is not right. Stay up to date with pavement design, pavement delivery, and pavement product technologies, while contributing ideas to improve the way we work. Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with Experience in civil or asphalt materials testing, or strong technical capability with a willingness to learn. Good planning, self-management, and computer skills, including Microsoft Office. An understanding of quality assurance, with ISO17025 knowledge preferred. A Full Class 1 driver licence and the ability to carry out the inherent requirements of the role, including some lifting within safe limits. A practical, reliable, team-focused approach, with a strong commitment to safety, learning, and doing good work.
