POSITION OVERVIEW: The Biomedical Technician I performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of a limited scope of biomedical equipment under the guidance and direct supervision of an experienced healthcare technology management (HTM) professional. This position does not directly manage other caregivers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Demonstrates basic knowledge of the job, activity or function, requires supervision or mentoring on advanced assignments. Displays demonstrated ability to learn from others on the job. Can teach some basic skills to new hires or interns. Accurately documents all repairs and inspection results. Attends service schools and training seminars as requested by the manager. Works closely with other team members to perform service and inspections of most medical devices for SCHS and its account customers which may require overnight travel. Helps to coordinate Biomedical Services vendor activities within SCHS when needed. Offers clinical support for the end users of medical devices. Demonstrates basic knowledge and ability with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and assists the department with accurate, timely record keeping. Participates in mandatory standby. Preferred: N/A LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Required: N/A Preferred: AAMI CBET/CRES certification. EXPERIENCE: Required: Completion of Biomedical Technology internship. Preferred: Two (2) years’ experience working in a hospital or medical manufacturer environment as a Biomedical Technician. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continually (75% or more): Standing and walking, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-10 pounds, grasping/squeezing. Frequently (50%): Sitting, bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing stairs, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 11-25 pounds.
