Job Description The Role We’re looking for an Embedded Software Engineer Co-op to help develop and test software and firmware for Bose audio products, prototypes, and engineering tools. You’ll work alongside software, systems, DSP, acoustics, and hardware engineers to develop solutions for embedded audio systems, automation, testing, and development platforms. You’ll gain experience across the software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through debugging, validation, and deployment. What You’ll Do Design, develop, and test embedded software and firmware for audio systems and engineering platforms. Develop high-quality, maintainable code using C/C++ and Python. Prototype and integrate software on embedded processors and hardware platforms. Develop automation tools to improve testing, performance measurement, and engineering workflows. Debug, validate, and benchmark software performance in embedded environments. Participate in code reviews and follow software development and version-control practices. Create technical documentation for software design, implementation, testing, and validation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, DSP, acoustics, systems, and hardware engineering. What You Bring Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field. Programming experience with C/C++ and/or Python. Coursework or project experience in embedded systems, software development, algorithms, computer architecture, or operating systems. Strong problem-solving and debugging skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hands-on engineering environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with embedded processors, RTOS, Linux, or embedded Linux. Experience with Git or other source-control tools. Knowledge of DSP, audio signal processing, or real-time audio systems. Experience with software testing, automation, CI/CD, or performance profiling. Familiarity with microcontrollers, ARM-based systems, device drivers, or hardware/software interfaces. Experience using laboratory equipment or working with electronic hardware. The hiring range for this position in the primary work location of Framingham, Massachusetts is: $29.00-$37.25 per hour.The hiring range for other Bose work locations may vary.
