This role provides advanced research training to support development of an independent research career. The fellow conducts research under the guidance of a Principal Investigator (PI), engages in professional development activities, and contributes to independent and collaborative research, dissemination of findings, and laboratory activities. Job Description: Job Duties Outlined: Research & Lab Responsibilities Conduct research under PI mentorship. Design, execute, and analyze experiments or studies. investigating molecular signaling and cardiovascular disease Collect, manage, and interpret datasets. Contribute to protocols, manuals, and regulatory documents. Collaborate with the PI, faculty, and research teams on project direction and results interpretation. Conduct in vitro experiments and studies using transgenic mouse models of heart disease. Scholarly Output & Grant Writing Prepare manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations for peer-reviewed journals and scientific meetings. Assist in preparing research proposals or other funding submissions. Contribute to the preparation of independent grant applications and scientific manuscripts. Professional Development & Mentorship Participate in seminars, workshops, and professional development activities. Develop and follow an Individual Development Plan (IDP). Mentor graduate or undergraduate students, interns, or trainees. Present research findings at meetings. Compliance Maintain accurate and up-to-date research records. Adhere to IRB, IACUC, data security, and other compliance policies. Attend required departmental and University orientation and training sessions. Required Qualifications Education: PhD in physiology, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a related field. Work Experience: Experience contributing to scientific publications or research presentations, as evidenced by application materials. Experience with cell culture, microscopy, and animal studies of heart disease. Experience with confocal microscopy. Experience with mouse studies. Preferred Qualifications Education: PhD with thesis in cardiovascular field. Work Experience: Experience with mouse echocardiography, ischemia reperfusion surgeries, flow cytometry, and mass spectrometry.
