LEADERSHIP
Job Description Summary For more than 40 years, we have built HarbourVest around committed professionals who bring an entrepreneurial spirit and a shared focus on delivering meaningful solutions for our clients and investing partners. As our global firm grows, we welcome people who value collaboration, open dialogue, diverse perspectives, and innovative thinking. When you join us, you will be part of a collegial, high-energy environment where we invest in your strengths and support continued learning. We believe our best outcomes come from working together, asking thoughtful questions, and giving people room to lead. Bring your perspective and help us shape what comes next! We are committed to an inclusive workplace grounded in mutual respect. We value the different experiences and perspectives our people bring because they strengthen both individual and firm-wide performance. HarbourVest is an equal opportunity employer. We want every candidate to be able to participate fully in our hiring process. If you need a reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process, please let our recruiting team know. What can you expect from us? We support a hybrid work arrangement that combines in-person collaboration with flexibility. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter, subject to manager approval. For example, you may work in the office four days per week and use one remote day weekly, leaving additional remote days available when needed. The Director, Product Capabilities Technology Lead, collaborates with the Vice President of Wealth Information Technology in Boston. The role has one direct report and broad matrix influence across technology, operations, and delivery partners. Why does this role matter? We are building the technology and data capabilities that support new investment products, ongoing fund operations, and client delivery. In this role, you will lead the technology and data strategy for Product Capabilities and serve as the data platform lead for information provided by third-party administrators. You will connect product decisions with practical technology requirements across Luxembourg structures, perpetual and semi-liquid funds, and platform and feeder vehicles. You will bring together fund operations, product development, data platform teams, and external partners. We will rely on you to maintain a clear, enterprise-wide view of administrator data demand and to create alignment across requirements, sequencing, delivery quality, and vendor performance. You will directly manage one employee while leading broader teams through influence. What will you accomplish? Own the technology and data roadmap for third-party administrators, prioritizing demand, dependencies, capacity, and sequencing across vendors and enterprise initiatives. Lead administrator technology relationships, including data commitments, specifications, onboarding, and resolution of defects that block delivery. Translate business needs into clear requirements and source-to-target mappings so engineering teams can build with confidence. Unite data architects, modelers, data owners, operations teams, project managers, analysts, and business leaders around shared data products and priorities. Create reconciliation and data quality controls, identify root causes, and drive data issues through resolution. Turn product structures, distribution models, and operating decisions into system configurations, data feeds, vendor requirements, and technology plans. Evaluate downstream impacts across the data platform, CRM, reporting, and client-facing applications for each launch. Drive launch readiness through test strategy, parallel runs, cutover planning, and clear go or no-go recommendations. Maintain transparent backlogs, dependencies, risks, and status reporting while balancing concurrent launches within available capacity. Coach one direct report, strengthen analysis and documentation practices across Wealth Technology, and represent our team in product and data governance forums. What will help you succeed? You will be well positioned to succeed if you bring practical experience in fund administration, transfer agency, fund operations technology, or wealth platform technology, along with the judgment to set priorities and lead across organizational boundaries. Solid understanding of fund administration data, including net asset value reporting, holdings and positions, trade activity, security reference data, cash and capital activity, and investor or subscription records. Experience connecting at least one fund or vehicle with an administrator or transfer agent. Strong SQL skills to profile data, identify loss or duplication, and challenge technical conclusions constructively. Understanding of modern cloud data platforms, including layered or medallion architecture, data lineage, and snapshot versus point-in-time data. Delivery experience across concurrent workstreams, including backlog management, user acceptance testing, cutover, and oversight of delivery partners or systems integrators. Experience managing at least one employee or developing analysts through matrix leadership, with clear written and verbal communication at executive and working levels. Experience with private markets fund structures, evergreen or semi-liquid vehicles, periodic subscriptions, redemptions and tenders, net asset value cycles, and capital calls is strongly preferred. Exposure to Luxembourg or Irish fund regimes, Azure DevOps, Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, Snowflake or another cloud data warehouse, or Python for data profiling is helpful but not required. Could this be your next opportunity? We are looking for someone who can connect strategy with execution, make clear tradeoffs, and create structure as our operating model evolves. If you enjoy bringing teams together, solving complex data challenges, and helping new products launch successfully, we encourage you to app ly! Experience More than eight years of experience in fund administration, fund operations technology, or wealth platform technology, including at least two years in a role where you set priorities rather than only following them. HarbourVest is an independent, global private markets firm with over 43 years of experience and more than $146 billion of assets under management as of June 30, 2025. Our interwoven platform provides clients access to global primary funds, secondary transactions, direct co-investments, real assets and infrastructure, and private credit. Our strengths extend across strategies, enabled by our team of more than 1,270 employees, including more than 230 investment professionals across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Across our private markets platform, our team has committed more than $64 billion to newly-formed funds, completed over $66 billion in secondary purchases, and invested over $49 billion in direct operating companies. We partner strategically and plan our offerings innovatively to provide our clients with access, insight, and global opportunities.
