The Security Camera Technician installs, configures, and services the CCTV and IP video surveillance systems Unió Digital delivers for commercial, industrial, medical, and mine-site clients. You will mount and aim IP cameras and HALO Smart Sensors and bring them online on Avigilon Alta Video, Avigilon Unity Video, and Rhombus, across new construction, retrofits, system takeovers, and service calls.
Cameras are the core of this role. You share a crew with the Access Control Technician and the Intrusion Technician, and on some jobs you will help wire and test doors and readers, so expect to cross-train on Avigilon access control. Your work mix follows the project schedule, so some weeks are mostly cameras and some are mostly doors. You bring solid low voltage fundamentals and take each camera to a working handoff: mounted to the design, aimed and focused for the view the client needs, powered and addressed on the network, registered, recording to the retention the design calls for, and shown to the client's staff. You will work with the Field Operations Lead and the Project Manager, build to the Physical Security Engineer's design, and take on-site service work routed through the Physical Security Service Desk. Intrusion alarm panels and sensors are the Intrusion Technician's work.
Unió Digital is a Rhombus and Avigilon partner and a licensed Arizona alarm business. Occupied buildings sometimes mean after-hours work. Some client sites and mine sites require site-specific safety training, a background check, or drug screening before you can work there. This seat is open as a W-2 employee position or as a contractor engagement. W-2 employees receive company-paid certifications and training.
Responsibilities:
- Mount, aim, and focus Avigilon and Rhombus cameras, working from ladders, lifts, poles, and building exteriors, and verify each field of view against the design
- Install HALO Smart Sensors in restrooms, locker rooms, and other spaces where cameras are not appropriate, and register them for the client's monitoring setup
- Configure IP addressing, PoE, and switch port and VLAN assignments for each camera, and confirm stable power and bandwidth
- Register and configure cameras in Avigilon Alta Video, Avigilon Unity Video, and Rhombus, and complete device checkout to the acceptance tests the Physical Security Engineer specifies
- Verify recording schedules, retention, and storage on every system before handoff, including on-premises Avigilon Unity Video servers
- Pull, terminate, and test the camera cabling a job requires, and seal exterior penetrations and enclosures against weather and dust
- Support access control work on the same jobs: wire and test doors, readers, and locking hardware alongside the Access Control Technician
- Service existing camera systems on site: diagnose video loss and image quality faults, replace failed cameras, update firmware, and close the ticket with clear notes
- Carry out takeovers and migrations of existing camera systems, including older CCTV and NVR installs, to the engineer's plan
- Train client staff at handoff to search, export, and share footage and manage alerts
- Document every camera with photos, device records, and redlines, and log your time and notes in HaloPSA
- Keep tools, test equipment, and materials secure, accounted for, and in working order
- Follow Unió Digital's safety program: complete the daily pre-task plan, wear required protective equipment, and report hazards, near misses, and incidents
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of low voltage field experience that includes installing or servicing commercial IP camera or CCTV systems
- Solid low voltage fundamentals: cable termination, device power, and reading floor plans and camera schedules
- Working knowledge of IP networking for cameras: addressing, PoE budgets, VLANs, switch port assignment, and bandwidth
- Understands camera placement: field of view, pixel density, lighting, and lens choice for identification versus overview coverage
- Experience with Avigilon, Rhombus, or comparable cloud and on-premises video platforms is preferred; access control experience and manufacturer training are a plus
- Clear communication with clients during installs, service calls, and training
- Able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to climb ladders, work from lifts and in ceilings and tight spaces, lift and carry cable and equipment, and work in heat and dust
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that Unió Digital's vehicle insurer accepts
- OSHA 10-hour Construction card, or willingness to earn one after hire
- Eligible to work in the U.S., based in or relocating to one of the listed hiring locations, and able to meet the published travel requirements
