MUFG is seeking an Assistant Vice President Project Manager to join their IT Planning, Reporting and Administration team in London. This is a unique opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in delivering both technology and business change projects across EMEA, ensuring quality outcomes within planned schedules and budgets. You will be part of a highly respected organisation with a rich history and a vast international network, where your expertise will directly impact the success of strategic initiatives. The environment is supportive, inclusive, and offers flexible working opportunities, generous pension contributions, and ongoing training to help you grow professionally. If you are passionate about project management and thrive in a collaborative setting where your skills are valued, this role provides the perfect platform for you to make a meaningful difference. * Join a globally recognised financial institution with a strong commitment to employee development, offering extensive training opportunities and generous pension contributions. * Work on high-impact projects that span both IT and non-IT domains, including organisational change management, regulatory impact assessments, application enhancements, system migrations, and process redesigns. * Enjoy flexible working arrangements in a supportive environment that values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and growth leadership, empowering you to achieve your full potential. What you'll do: As an Assistant Vice President Project Manager based in London, you will oversee the full lifecycle of diverse projects within the Infrastructure Portfolio. Your day-to-day activities will involve planning and governing projects from initiation through closure while maintaining compliance with established frameworks. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across departments to ensure effective governance structures are in place. By creating robust baseline plans and managing change controls efficiently, you will keep projects on track without exceeding approved budgets or timelines. Your expertise in change management will be crucial in resolving issues swiftly and advising senior leaders on complex decisions. Regular reporting using golden source data ensures transparency for executive committees. You will also support portfolio strategy delivery by engaging in cross-functional forums and collaborating with business partners. Managing third-party vendors and recruiting internal talent forms part of your remit as you build dependable teams capable of delivering successful outcomes. Your ability to structure governance meetings effectively ensures accountability for actions against planned timelines while maintaining visibility of project status across the portfolio. * Plan, direct, and govern multiple projects within the Technology portfolio, ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and are completed within agreed timelines and budgets. * Scope individual projects—both IT-related (such as application enhancements or system migrations) and non-IT (including new procedures or organisational changes)—and develop comprehensive delivery plans. * Engage stakeholders at all levels to establish effective project governance using prescribed frameworks, ensuring clear communication and consensus throughout the project lifecycle. * Create baseline plans for each project, monitor adherence to scope and timeline, and manage change controls without breaching approved budgets or schedules. * Provide expert change management guidance to resolve conflicts, mitigate risks associated with change, and advise business leaders on key decisions. * Structure project plans with meaningful milestones that support regular reporting; ensure updates are transparent, accurate, and relevant for all stakeholders. * Support portfolio managers by contributing to strategy delivery and participating in required reporting forums across the organisation. * Collaborate with functional or business stakeholders to achieve clear outcomes related to the portfolio book of work. * Deliver concise point-in-time reporting generated from golden source tools such as General Ledger and PPM systems for all stakeholders. * Manage third-party vendors according to procurement policies; recruit internal project delivery staff of appropriate calibre; ensure responsibilities are clearly assigned and controlled. What you bring: To excel as an Assistant Vice President Project Manager in this prestigious financial institution’s IT Planning department, you will bring substantial experience managing complex projects within regulated environments. Your deep understanding of investment budget management enables you to forecast accurately while maintaining strict control over costs throughout the project lifecycle. You have demonstrated success securing stakeholder agreement on allocations—ensuring alignment between business plans and project benefits—and overseeing resource supply teams for timely delivery. Your subject matter expertise spans both IT-related initiatives (application enhancements/system migrations) and non-IT transformations (process redesigns/regulatory impact assessments). You possess advanced skills in designing governance structures that facilitate regular reporting to executive forums while keeping RAID logs current. Document management is second nature: you maintain artefacts meticulously for audit purposes while ensuring clean closure of programmes. Your familiarity with banking regulations enhances your ability to run regulatory projects effectively. Building relationships across diverse teams comes naturally thanks to your interpersonal skills—whether negotiating vendor contracts or coaching colleagues through challenging phases. With degree-level education as a foundation (and professional accreditations preferred), your communication abilities allow you to articulate complex problems clearly at all levels. Your calm approach under pressure ensures accuracy even when managing large workloads or tight deadlines. * Minimum 5 years’ proven experience delivering projects within financial institutions on time and within budget. * Demonstrable expertise in investment budget management including accurate forecasting of cost categories, budget control at project/programme level, and insight into controlling costs before budget approval. * Experience agreeing investment project allocations across stakeholders—ensuring costs are factored into departmental business plans—and reviewing resource availability for timely delivery. * Subject matter expertise in project/programme management: handling multiple unrelated projects simultaneously while resolving conflict and mitigating risk associated with change. * Strong background designing project/programme governance structures; delivering regular reports to portfolio committees or executive forums; maintaining terms of reference; managing RAID logs proactively. * Document management skills: structuring artefacts consistently for ease of reference by second/third line defence or PMO; ensuring clean closure of every project/programme with risk acceptance or closure within budget. * Knowledge of banking regulations (preferred), running regulatory projects, understanding financial products/front-to-back processes. * Proven track record managing multiple stakeholders across diverse skill sets; building relationships throughout the organisation; negotiating contracts with vendors/consultancies. * Coaching, mentoring, and growth leadership skills; expert understanding of full project lifecycle SDLC/PDLC using waterfall/agile approaches; excellent communication skills at all levels. * Degree-level education essential; relevant qualifications/accreditations such as Prince2, PMI, Six Sigma preferred.
