Estimator - Commercial Drywall & Metal Framing.

FULL TIME

We’re hiring a Commercial Estimator with direct experience pricing interior construction projects, particularly drywall, metal stud framing, acoustical ceilings, and flooring. You’ll take ownership of the estimating process, translating construction plans into accurate project costs and competitive bids while coordinating with trade partners and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop project pricing for commercial drywall, metal framing, ceiling systems, flooring, and interior build-outs.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, contract documents, and bid revisions to establish quantities and define the full scope of work.
  • Calculate material requirements, labor hours, equipment expenses, and subcontractor costs through detailed quantity takeoffs.
  • Flag missing scope, drawing conflicts, pricing inconsistencies, and potential budget exposure before bids are finalized.
  • Request and review vendor and subcontractor proposals, compare pricing, and confirm all required work is covered.
  • Assemble bid submissions with clear pricing breakdowns, scope descriptions, assumptions, exclusions, and alternate options.
  • Identify cost-saving approaches and alternative materials or methods without compromising quality or specifications.
  • Work with project managers, field personnel, general contractors, suppliers, and clients to resolve scope questions and validate pricing.
  • Maintain reliable cost databases, supplier pricing records, historical estimates, and organized bid files.
  • Prepare preliminary budgets, negotiated pricing, change-order estimates, and revised bids as project requirements evolve.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, and post-bid discussions.
  • Transfer awarded estimates to project teams with detailed cost breakdowns and documented scope assumptions.
  • Manage several estimates simultaneously while meeting submission deadlines.
  • Refine estimating procedures and historical cost tracking to improve pricing consistency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of commercial estimating experience in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior construction trades.
  • Direct experience estimating commercial interior construction projects is required.
  • Strong understanding of drywall systems, metal stud assemblies, ceiling installations, flooring, and interior build-out methods.
  • Ability to interpret architectural plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documentation.
  • Proven experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing detailed project estimates.
  • Ability to evaluate subcontractor bids, verify scope coverage, and resolve pricing discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or comparable estimating tools.
  • Knowledge of construction labor rates, material costs, equipment expenses, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple bids and deliver accurate estimates under tight deadlines.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Construction Management, Engineering, or related education is preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement savings plan with company contribution.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
  • Steady pipeline of commercial interior construction projects.
  • Opportunity to work on diverse drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceiling, and flooring projects.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
