Senior Manager, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR).

LEADERSHIPSALES & MARKETING
At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it. Position Summary The Senior Manager, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) is responsible for leading the development and execution of health economics, outcomes research, and real-world evidence strategies for priority inline brands and pipeline assets in Japan. This position plays a critical role in generating and translating evidence that demonstrates the value of BMS medicines to external stakeholders and supports timely, appropriate patient access. The role partners closely with local and global cross-functional teams, including Integrated Evidence Generation (IEG), Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, and Global HEOR, to ensure that evidence strategies are aligned with business priorities, scientific rigor, and the evolving healthcare environment in Japan. The incumbent is expected to operate effectively in a highly matrixed organization, influence without direct authority, and deliver results with a strong sense of accountability, compliance, and patient focus. Key Responsibilities 1. Lead the development of local HEOR and value demonstration strategies for assigned inline products and pipeline assets, aligned with brand priorities and access objectives. 2. Develop and execute integrated evidence generation plans in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to address evidence needs across the product lifecycle. 3. Identify evidence gaps through product assessments, competitive landscape reviews, and stakeholder insights, and translate these into actionable research priorities. 4. Provide strategic HEOR input to support launch planning, access strategy, pricing discussions, and broader commercialization readiness. 5. Generate, interpret, and communicate robust evidence, including health economic models, real-world evidence, burden of illness analyses, and outcomes research, to support internal decision-making and external value communication. 6. Serve as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders on HEOR methodologies, value frameworks, and the implications of the Japanese healthcare, reimbursement, and HTA environment. 7. Partner with Global HEOR and other global functions to adapt global evidence strategies to local market needs and ensure consistency with enterprise objectives. 8. Lead and manage complex projects involving internal teams and external vendors, ensuring high-quality delivery, effective budget management, and adherence to timelines. 9. Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and BMS standards of integrity and compliance. Qualifications Advanced degree required in Health Economics, Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, Public Health, Pharmacy, Statistics, or a related discipline. A master's degree, PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent advanced training is strongly preferred. Experience Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in HEOR, market access, outcomes research, epidemiology, real-world evidence, or a related function within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or consulting environment. Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: - Development of HEOR strategies and evidence generation plans for pharmaceutical products. - Preparation of evidence to support reimbursement, HTA, pricing, or market access decision-making. - Engagement with external stakeholders in the Japanese healthcare environment, including payers, academic experts, policy stakeholders, or related institutions. - Successful leadership of cross-functional initiatives within a complex matrix organization. Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies - Strong understanding of HEOR principles, including health economics, epidemiology, real-world evidence, biostatistics, and outcomes research methodologies. - Strong knowledge of the Japanese healthcare system, reimbursement landscape, and market access environment. - Ability to integrate scientific, clinical, and business perspectives into clear, actionable recommendations. - Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment. - Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills in both Japanese and English. - Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated ability to influence across functions and levels. Leadership Expectations The successful candidate will demonstrate strong enterprise mindset, learning agility, and the ability to work collaboratively across geographies, functions, and cultures. This individual is expected to model inclusive leadership behaviors, foster strong partnerships, and contribute to an environment that values diverse perspectives and continuous improvement. The role requires sound judgment, resilience, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while maintaining focus on execution and impact. The incumbent is expected to uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity and to consistently act in a manner that advances BMS's mission of transforming patients' lives through science. Working Relationships This role works closely with local and global HEOR colleagues as well as stakeholders across Market Access, Medical, Commercial, Regulatory, Pricing, and Integrated Evidence Generation. External collaboration may include academic experts, research partners, and other healthcare system stakeholders, as appropriate and in compliance with company policy. We hire for skills and capabilities, not just credentials – if this role excites you, but doesn’t perfectly match your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway.
