APM Terminals Civil Category Manager – APM Terminals At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey. Based in Barcelona, this role has a global scope, working closely with APM Terminals’ technical functions and more than 70 business units. You will join the Asset Category Management team, which is responsible for global and strategic CAPEX and OPEX spend categories across APM Terminals. Reporting to the Head of Civil Category Management, you will help manage annual Civil CAPEX spend of up to USD 1 billion across global greenfield and brownfield projects. What We Can Offer At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement means every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers by continuously refining how we work. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work. Work on global civil infrastructure projects that support APM Terminals’ growth objectives. Collaborate with technical specialists, procurement colleagues, suppliers, consultants, contractors, and business units worldwide. Influence strategic sourcing, supplier relationships, risk management, and commercial outcomes across significant CAPEX programmes. Develop your expertise through complex international tenders, cross-functional programmes, and technical and commercial stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute procurement, contracting, and category strategies for global civil projects. Lead tender processes for civil projects above USD 2 million, including the appointment of design, project management, environmental and soil investigation consultants, and civil construction contractors. Programme-manage multiple complex civil tenders, including interdependencies with equipment and automation functions. Build and manage strategic relationships with civil suppliers, consultants, contractors, technical stakeholders, and global and local procurement teams. Negotiate and manage commercial agreements and contracts, including FIDIC-based arrangements. Develop cost models, identify savings and total-cost-of-ownership improvements, and coordinate implementation with key civil suppliers. Manage sourcing and delivery risks to secure the right product or service, at the right cost and time, while supporting overall project timelines and compliance requirements. What We Are Looking For Continuous improvement mindset: We are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time. Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day. Bring at least five years of relevant work experience, preferably supported by a civil technical degree and experience in civil category management or procurement. Demonstrate extensive experience with FIDIC contracts and commercial negotiations. Apply knowledge of CAPEX structures, project execution, technologies, and disciplines used in medium-to-large civil programmes and projects. Lead international, multi-country, and cross-functional strategies or programmes involving a broad range of senior internal and external stakeholders. Combine strong analytical and reasoning skills with the ability to manage ambiguity, align stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and translate technical requirements into effective procurement processes. You will need excellent written and verbal English communication skills and willingness to travel approximately 10–20% of your working time. #LI-POST #APMTerminals #CivilEngineering #CategoryManagement #CAPEX #Procurement Maersk is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we embrace different styles of thinking.
