Senior Software Engineer, AI-Native Development - Evinova.

REMOTESENIOR LEVELDATA & ML
This is an in-office role based in Barcelona, ES, with a requirement to work a minimum of three days per week on-site. Remote or travel flexibility is not available. Are you ready to build AI-native software that accelerates clinical trials and improves patient outcomes? Do you thrive in a full-stack environment where AI is a core tool, not an add-on? Join us in Barcelona to design and deliver products that power the next generation of clinical research. In this role, you will write production code daily and take end-to-end ownership of what you ship. You will design and implement robust backend services, contribute to modern frontend experiences, and integrate AI capabilities directly into our product suite. Your work will help simplify participation in clinical trials for patients and professionals, making a measurable difference in how life-changing therapies reach those who need them. You will also help define how engineering teams build with AI: setting conventions for AI-assisted development, establishing prompt engineering patterns, and creating quality gates for AI-generated code. Your impact will be felt immediately in product delivery and over time in the standards and practices that shape our AI-native engineering culture. Accountabilities Full-Stack Product Delivery: Write clean, well-tested, production-ready code across backend and frontend, owning outcomes from design through deployment and monitoring to deliver features that power clinical trials at scale. AI-Native Development: Design and implement LLM-powered workflows, intelligent automation, and AI-driven user experiences; develop prompt engineering patterns, evaluation frameworks, and testing strategies; and apply critical judgment to all AI-generated code. Backend and APIs: Build scalable backend and BFF services, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, and data streaming pipelines that meet reliability, performance, and compliance needs. Frontend Experience: Contribute to React and React Native applications when full-stack ownership is required, ensuring cohesive, high-quality user experiences. Reliability and Observability: Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements; enhance monitoring and resilience to protect service levels. Platform and DevOps Partnership: Collaborate on infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment and recovery, and container orchestration for speed and stability. Secure and Compliant Engineering: Operate effectively in regulated environments, applying disciplined engineering practices and evidence generation to meet validation expectations. Collaboration and Mentorship: Elevate team standards through substantive code reviews; mentor peers in AI-assisted development and modern workflows; contribute to agile planning, estimation, and retrospectives. Progression and Impact: Deliver immediate value in features and platform capabilities, then expand your influence by shaping AI-first engineering practices and reusable components that accelerate multiple product teams. Essential Skills/Experience 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production systems. Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Node.js, or similar) and frontend technologies (TypeScript, React, React Native). Experience building and operating RESTful & GraphQL APIs, with solid understanding of HTTP, JSON, and OpenAPI specifications. Experience with document-based storage (MongoDB or similar) and data streaming technologies (Kafka or similar). Practical, daily experience using AI-assisted development tools in your own coding workflow. You should be able to articulate how AI tools change the way you design, write, test, and review code. Experience building or integrating AI/LLM features into production applications (not just experimentation or prototypes). Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with AWS cloud services. Strong testing discipline: unit testing, integration testing, and BDD frameworks (Cucumber or similar). Familiarity with regulated or compliance-sensitive software development environments. Desirable Skills/Experience Experience building agentic AI systems, including multi-step LLM workflows, tool use, and evaluation/observability for AI features. Experience with clinical trial software, eCOA, medical devices or healthcare/life sciences technology. Familiarity with GxP or SaMD validation processes. Experience designing solutions for complex projects within large organizations. Contributions to open-source projects or visible technical thought leadership.
