Job Description: Electronic circuit designer of digital and analog control systems for power tools. Engineer will be responsible for design and verification of both hardware and firmware for control systems circuitry in various power tool applications with a focus on battery management systems (BMS). No prior BMS experience is required but would be a major benefit. Job functions include development of circuit schematics and PCB layouts including component selection and generation of BOMs and well as firmware architecture and development. Additionally, the engineer will be involved in the creation of production testing documents, creation and execution of verification testing, and other similar formal steps necessary before production. The candidate must have a can-do attitude, be willing to learn new technical skills, and will be able to function in a mixed technical setting – at least some of each software and hardware. An ideal candidate would be comfortable in hands-on situations (e.g., PCB rework, measurement equipment) and be able to approach problems from a theoretical perspective (e.g., simulation and calculations). Lastly, strong time-management skills and a production-focused mindset are required traits. Experience and/or desire to work with power tools and home improvement is a major plus. Up to 5% Prefer: Embedded Battery management system (BMS) experience – Li-Ion Experience with power electronics design and testing in other applications - motor control, AC/DC DC/DC conversion, etc Experience with SPICE modeling software such as LTSpice, Multism Proficiency with Printed Circuit Board layout and development tools – Altium in particular Experience with firmware design and architecture, working on a large software project collaboratively with other team members.
