Job Summary The Actuarial Developer designs, builds, and operates the software that powers our actuarial work. In this role you will translate actuarial, financial, and business needs into reliable automated solutions, from design through deployment and will partner across the organization to put data and analysis in the hands of decision-makers. This is a role for someone who wants to push the envelope on AI: we are actively building AI into how we work, and we’re looking to add someone to our team that will be a strong, hands-on adopter that will help the team get more out of the tools & technology we have available. Key Responsibilities: Develop Automated Business Solutions - Design, develop, and deploy analysis software for use by actuarial teams, primarily on Databricks, with SQL and other languages as needed. Work across the full software development lifecycle — analysis, design, construction, implementation, and testing — and produce solution design specifications others can build from. Integrate with third-party systems such as GGY AXIS, Economic Scenario Generation (ESG) software, and risk modeling systems. Cloud-based computing tools and environments may be used. Financial and Actuarial Analysis - Build and support the software behind actuarial and financial analysis — including principles-based modeling, financial forecasting, capital market pricing, and numerical methods used in pricing, valuation, financial reporting, or risk management. Your understanding of these concepts will allow you to translate them into reliable, well-engineered solutions and to collaborate effectively with the actuaries who own the models. Cross Collaboration - Partner effectively with both business and technical colleagues to turn business needs into sound, well-engineered solutions. On the business side, work closely with actuaries, finance, product, and other end users to understand financial and product data and the decisions it supports. On the technical side, collaborate with IT, data, architecture, and fellow developers to align on standards, integration, and delivery. Communicate clearly across both audiences, and present data and analysis that provides guidance and influences decision-making. Lead with AI - We are all-in on AI, and we want someone who is too. Make heavy, everyday use of AI and generative-AI tools (such as coding assistants and large language models) a default part of how you work — for development, analysis, testing, and documentation — and continually look for new ways to apply them and raise the bar for the team. You remain fully accountable for the accuracy, quality, and compliance of everything you deliver: treat AI output as a strong first draft, review and validate it to the same standard as your own work and follow all data-handling and governance policies. Training and Knowledge Transfer - Research new techniques, tools, and practices and share them with a broader audience. Actively train and support others in analysis tools and methods — including effective use of AI. Operate Business Solutions - Strengthen solutions through active ownership and use of automated processes. Refine solutions until they are ready for deployment to business users and support them in production. Note: This role may be filled at either of the levels noted below based on experience & qualifications.
