The Ocean Operations Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end coordination and management of import, export, and cross-trade ocean freight shipments (LCL, FCL and, where required, Breakbulk). The role takes ownership of assigned customer shipments from booking through final invoicing, ensuring operational accuracy, timely execution, compliance with company procedures and international regulations, and a high level of customer service. The position requires proactive communication and collaboration with customers, carriers, agents, authorities, and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth movement of cargo. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: · Obtaining and comparing freight rates, as well as preparing quotes · Take ownership of assigned shipments from booking through final invoicing while ensuring service excellence and operational profitability · Customer Service: Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing updates, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues. · Problem Resolution: Identify and address any issues or delays in the shipping process, implementing corrective actions as needed. · Ensure shipment profitability through cost control, accurate vendor cost verification, and timely customer billing. · Manage customer invoicing and verify and process carrier and vendor invoices. · Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with international regulations, customs laws, and company policies. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: · Experience in freight forwarding industry is required. · 3 -5 years’ experience in a similar position. · Experience working with CargoWise or similar forwarding software preferred.
