Medina Hospital’s 20-bed Emergency Department serves all patients seeking emergency care — inclusive of all ages from neonate to geriatric, and regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or ability to pay. This Emergency Department is the 3rd highest acuity in all of Cleveland Clinic and has obtained various achievements such as the ENA Lantern Award, Certified Primary Stroke Center, Geriatric Accredited Emergency Department and Magnet Hospital. The department is focused on providing treatment tailored to each individual patient’s specific needs, with an emphasis on expediting care and reducing wait times. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on the team, you will assist and provide direct patient care while supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN). This position involves heavy patient contact, including ADLs and ambulation assistance. A PCNA in this role should be familiar with identifying basic changes in patient status and have the ability to be flexible and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Here, you will have the chance to work alongside our nurses and physicians who are eager to teach, welcome new caregivers to the team and help them climb the professional ladder. A caregiver in this position works part-time days/evenings from 11:00AM – 11:30PM, with some weekend requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter. Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN. Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) Physical Requirements: Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
