In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The HVAC equipment you will be servicing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers. Location: Minneapolis, MN What you will do: Supervise up to 10 HVAC Technicians Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks Perform intermediate to advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing Conduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality for all HVAC equipment Educate technical and non-technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual usage Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units including the direction of apprentice level technicians through hands-on demonstration of the necessary steps Program new control systems using touchscreens and computers Document actions taken on the jobsite to be included with project report Direct discussions with customers and building owners to assist with ongoing maintenance and service Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call and explain technical information to technical and non-technical audiences Identify and quote opportunities for minor repairs directly to the customer Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and Micro controllers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off-site learning modules Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines What’s in it for you: Factory Certified Training, Refrigeration Certification or other professional on the job training in the HVAC Industry The opportunity to work on all types of commercial equipment and cutting-edge technologies such as Intelligent Equipment Daikin Applied provides technicians with company vehicle, laptops, mobile devices, and other technologies The ability to make an impact and shape your career with a company that is passionate about growth The support of an organization that believes it is vital to include and engage diverse people, perspectives, and ideas to achieve our best The opportunity to work for a leading innovator in HVAC and make a difference in environmental initiatives to create a more sustainable world for all Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years related experience with increasing responsibility; or 7+ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience Accepted as Foreman by the union High School Diploma or GED Technical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record Rotational Emergency Call Support Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position Preferred Qualifications: Member of local union or willing to join the union Commercial HVAC Industry Experience Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process) Current first aid / CPR card The expected hourly rate for this position is $55 - 63 in MN. The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including verification of employment history, education, background screening, and drug testing where permitted by law. Safety-sensitive positions may require cannabis (marijuana) testing. All testing and employment decisions will comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
