Overview
The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapy services under the direction of the Physical Therapist and according to the physician's plan of care. This is a PRN position.

Responsibilities
- Provides direct physical therapy treatments according to directions of the physical therapist and in accordance with the physician's plan of care.
- Treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
- Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and functional training, transfer activities and prosthetic training.
- Utilizes physical agents, including, but not be limited to heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage.
- Observes and reports to the physical therapist and the organization personnel the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in patient’s condition.
- Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
- Maintains necessary records; clinical notes and conference notes, which will be incorporated into the patient’s clinical record in prescribed time frames.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with either an associate’s degree in science or applied science that is approved by American Physical Therapy Association, Inc.
- Licensure/Certification: Possesses and maintains current CPR certification
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile in good working condition and have automobile insurance in accordance with Ohio laws.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-year clinical experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant, in-home health or community health/hospice preferred.
- Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and be able to communicate effectively and relate courteously and cooperatively with patients, caregivers, colleagues, supervisors, co-workers and all others.
- Must be able to demonstrate optimism, enthusiasm and willingness to work with other health care team members and reflect concern for the wellbeing on patients and employees.
- Visual/hearing ability must be sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication.
- Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
- The Physical Therapy Assistant must have ability sufficient to ambulate throughout a patient's home, navigating stairs and other physical barriers typical to private residences
