Lead For America

Tucson

Community Engagement Digital Navigator (Pima County Office of Digital Inclusion).

FULL TIME

Note: This is a full-time ACC AmeriCorps position with the Pima County Office of Digital Inclusion

About the American Connection Corps:

The American Connection Corps (ACC), an AmeriCorps program of Lead For America (LFA), is a service fellowship program aimed at helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility, ranging from healthcare access to quality employment.

ACC Members serve with locally-rooted organizations, helping address the digital divide and strengthen access to opportunity. Through their service, they gain hands-on experience, build in-demand skills, and explore career pathways while making a tangible impact in their communities.

About the Pima County Office of Digital Inclusion

Pima County is working to close the digital divide by linking communities to affordable, high-speed internet access, increasing access to devices and tools, and providing opportunities for digital skill building.

Position Overview

The Digital Navigator is a trusted guide who provides individualized or small group assistance to community members needing affordable home internet service, affordable internet-capable devices, and/or coaching in introductory digital skills. This assistance may be provided in person, by telephone, email, text, video chat, and other communication methods as required. The Digital Navigator helps the most vulnerable members of our population - those who are disconnected. This work is vital to achieving County goals for living well and aging in place.

As an AmeriCorps State and National member, the Digital Navigator provides direct service to community members and supports approved digital inclusion activities under the supervision and direction of designated program staff. Service activities must address identified community needs and be consistent with the AmeriCorps-approved program, member service assignment, and applicable award requirements. The member’s service supplements, and does not duplicate or displace, the work of paid employees or existing volunteers.

  • Assists in identifying and addressing barriers to participation for culturally and economically diverse communities, including currently and historically marginalized groups, through outreach, digital inclusion assistance, and other approved service activities;
  • Assists in collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and compiling statistical materials for management review to document service delivery, assess community needs, and support program evaluation and reporting. The member will follow approved data collection, confidentiality, and information-security procedures;
  • Works collaboratively with county departments and community-based organizations to improve digital equity through various programs, outreach events, and educational activities consistent with the approved service assignment and under the direction of designated program staff;
  • Organizes and facilitates engagement activities and events in coordination with staff to connect community members with digital inclusion resources, affordable connectivity options, internet-capable devices, and introductory digital skills coaching;
  • Conducts program-specific surveys and collects demographic data for analysis in accordance with approved program procedures, applicable privacy requirements, and data-protection protocols;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office of Digital Inclusion that are consistent with the member’s approved service assignment, AmeriCorps State and National requirements, and applicable program policies. Duties must not include prohibited activities or work that replaces or duplicates the duties of paid employees or existing volunteers.

The member must perform all service activities in accordance with applicable AmeriCorps requirements and host-site policies, including requirements concerning prohibited activities, nonduplication, and nondisplacement. The member must accurately document service hours and complete required program documentation in accordance with program procedures.
