We are looking for a detail-oriented and compliance-focused Dealer to manage investment execution and portfolio-related dealing activities for our Alternative Investment Fund (AIF). The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of relevant work experience, a strong understanding of financial markets, and the ability to source and execute block deals in the small-cap and mid-cap segments.
The role requires a disciplined approach to investment execution, meticulous documentation, and familiarity with back-office operations, including NAV calculation and portfolio management systems such as Wealth Spectrum. The candidate should be comfortable working with a long-term, buy-and-hold investment strategy that emphasizes portfolio quality, regulatory compliance, and operational accuracy over frequent trading.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Block Deal Sourcing: Identify, source, and facilitate block deals in small-cap and mid-cap stocks by leveraging market networks, broker relationships, and other relevant channels.
- Trade Execution: Execute buy and sell orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring adherence to investment guidelines, approved strategies, and internal dealing procedures.
- Portfolio Support: Support the management of AIF portfolios with a relatively low-churn, buy-and-hold approach, focusing on disciplined execution and long-term investment objectives.
- Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete records of trades, investment decisions, transaction confirmations, approvals, and other regulatory and internal compliance documentation.
- Back-Office Operations: Coordinate with operations, fund accounting, custodians, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth settlement and reconciliation of transactions.
- NAV Calculation: Assist with Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations, portfolio valuation checks, trade reconciliation, and verification of relevant financial and operational data.
- Systems Management: Work with portfolio management and back-office platforms such as Wealth Spectrum to maintain accurate transaction records and support timely reporting.
- Risk and Process Monitoring: Identify discrepancies, settlement issues, and operational risks, escalating them promptly to the relevant stakeholders.
- Reporting and Coordination: Prepare dealing reports and maintain clear communication with portfolio managers, operations teams, brokers, and compliance personnel.
Must-Have Skills
- Compliance: Strong understanding of compliance requirements, internal controls, and disciplined trading practices.
- Documentation: Excellent record-keeping skills with a high degree of accuracy, transparency, and attention to detail.
- Block Sourcing: Demonstrated ability to source block deals, particularly in small-cap and mid-cap stocks.
- Back-Office Operations: Familiarity with trade settlement, reconciliation, portfolio accounting, and NAV calculation.
- Technology Proficiency: Working knowledge of Wealth Spectrum or similar portfolio management and back-office systems.
- Investment Discipline: Ability to operate within a low-portfolio-churn, buy-and-hold investment framework.
Experience and Qualifications
- Experience: 1–3 years of relevant experience in dealing, investment operations, equity markets, portfolio management support, or a related financial services role.
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Exposure to AIFs, portfolio management services (PMS), asset management companies, or institutional equity dealing will be an advantage.
