Roles & Responsibilities :
- Design 3D models and assemblies in commonly used CAD platforms.
- Ensure bracket designs and fastening methods withstand automotive vibration, thermal cycling, and harsh operating environments.
- Generate production-ready 2D design drawings with the relevant dimensions and tolerances.
- Analyze packaging constraints, clearance limits, and access/ergonomic requirements within various vehicle compartments (e.g., engine bay, cabin, under body, boot space).
- Apply clear understanding of DFMA and process capabilities (e.g., stamping, bending, CNC machining, laser cutting) to design cost-effective, easy-to-manufacture components.
- Design, prototype, and release sheet metal, machined, and additive manufactured (3D-printed/rapid prototype) brackets to safely mount sensors and hardware in restricted spaces while adhering to automotive durability and dynamic loads.
- Translate physical and technical integration requirements for automotive sensors (e.g., pressure, temperature, IMUs, speed, position) and data acquisition (DAQ) measurement hardware into mechanical mounting requirements.
- Select and apply appropriate fasteners (e.g., rivets, weld nuts, clinching/PEM fasteners, bolts, and clips) and joint techniques suited for specific automotive sheet metal and machined joints.
- Understand electrical schematics, translate them into harness preparation instructions.
- Coordinate with local vendors for rapid prototyping (3D printing, sheet metal, machining and plastic parts).
- Guide technicians integrating components on the car with work instructions and ensure adherence to best practices.
