About our Medical Practice
Prescient has four core practices: Commercial, Competitive Strategy, Medical and Value, Pricing and Access. We specialise in supporting our biopharma clients in making insightful strategic choices for their products and portfolios. The Medical Practice is the scientific engine of the Prescient platform. We are insight-led and evidence-driven, partnering with many of the world's leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies across oncology, rare disease, immunology, neuroscience and beyond.
The Medical Practice works across three core pillars: Medical Strategy and Planning; Integrated Evidence Strategy and Generation; and Organisational Excellence. This role sits within Medical Strategy and Planning, where we help medical affairs teams set strategic direction and plan the evidence and activities that support their products across the life cycle. Our work spans medical strategy and planning, evidence planning, literature review and synthesis and advisory work with medical affairs leaders.
About the opportunity
As a Principal, you will lead moderately to highly complex medical strategy workstreams within projects and lead client projects of low to moderate complexity, with responsibility for timely, high-quality delivery. You will run multiple workstreams or projects at the same time and oversee the work of less experienced colleagues supporting your deliverables.
You will be recognised as an emerging leader on at least three client accounts, creating demand for further work from existing clients and building credibility with new ones. You will play an active role in proposal development and other business development activities, and may lead them. You will also take part in or lead internal projects that advance Prescient's capabilities.
Rigorous analytical thinking, with the ability to form hypotheses from limited information while keeping a balanced view. The ability to distil complex clinical and regulatory matters into a clear business case and roadmap for execution. An entrepreneurial, growth-focused mindset that you apply to clients, the business and the colleagues you develop.
Key responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead the design of primary and secondary research (including discussion guides) and lead the write-up and presentation of findings
- Analytical and Insight Leadership: Frame the analyses needed for most project types, think across workstreams and form hypotheses with limited information while ensuring all avenues are evaluated
- Deliverable Development: Storyline and shape client deliverables such as workshop pre-reads, client workshops and interim and final reports
- Workstream Management: Develop project workplans, drive internal meetings, estimate effort reliably and build internal and external feedback into future deliverables
- Client Management: Act as primary presenter in client meetings when assigned, fostering dialogue with a “seek to understand” mindset and contributing beyond your defined role to add value
- Business Development: Create demand for more work from at least two existing client accounts a year and build traction with at least two new client accounts a year through proposal work
- Capability Building: Take part in or lead internal projects that advance Prescient's capabilities, such as new team training, methodologies, systems and tools
- Line Management: Where assigned, hire, develop and retain diverse talent, coaching the less experienced colleagues who support your work
Required experience and skills
- Undergraduate or advanced degree in life sciences; an advanced degree is desirable
- Five or more years of relevant professional experience in a corporate, business or consulting environment, which may include pharma consulting, pharma business intelligence or pharma data analytics. A mix of industry and consulting experience is preferred
- Two or more years of experience in oncology, immunology or biosimilars is strongly preferred
- Significant experience in the same or a related therapeutic area, covering the clinical, regulatory and commercial aspects of global markets (especially the EU and US) and networking with investigators such as KOLs and key trialists
- Strong knowledge of drug development and approval processes, clinical trials and patient segments, plus GCP, FDA, EMA and other relevant regulations and guidelines
- Demonstrated thought leadership in your area of specialisation, such as publications, new methodologies, speaking engagements, conferences or a leadership role in a professional association
- Proven ability to lead multiple projects of increasing scope and complexity through effective matrix leadership
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; people management experience is a plus
What we offer
