Nephila is a leading alternative asset manager specializing in insurance-linked investments with approximately $8 billion in assets under management. We provide investors with access to catastrophe, specialty, and climate-related risk through innovative risk transfer solutions. As pioneers in the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market, we have helped shape the industry by bringing alternative capital to the reinsurance markets and founding the first Lloyds Syndicate backed by ILS. With offices in Bermuda, London, and Nashville, we combine deep expertise, disciplined risk management, and an entrepreneurial approach to create long-term value.

WHAT WE VALUE:

Our success is built on a culture that combines intellectual rigor with an entrepreneurial mindset. We value individuals who are curious, collaborative, and motivated by solving complex problems. We encourage independent thinking, challenge conventional assumptions, and empower our people to take ownership of their work and ideas.

  • Thinking outside the box
  • Clear, authentic communication
  • Autonomy and ownership
  • Asking questions that make you think differently
  • Embracing change

ABOUT THE ROLE:

In this role, you will…

  • Collaborate with teams to understand goals and build creative solutions
  • Use programming skills (C#, Python, R, Java) to improve and automate processes
  • Analyze data with SQL for accurate decision-making
  • Explore and pilot AI where it may add value to the firm, testing results and weighing accuracy, data privacy, cost, and maintenance
  • Build applications and tools for specific business needs, including AI-enabled solutions
  • Help pilot promising use cases with the business, evaluate results, and recommend paths forward
  • Stay updated on current technology and AI trends and suggest improvements.
  • Work on projects with global teams (Bermuda, London, Nashville)

ABOUT YOU:

  • You are a proactive self-starter who is curious about how technology and AI can solve real business problems.
  • Your strength lies in creative problem-solving and robust critical thinking, enabling you to view challenges from fresh angles.
  • You excel in fast-paced environments, delivering results efficiently and meeting tight deadlines with ease.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM (QUALIFICATIONS):

  • 0-3 years work experience in a technology or development role or equivalent education
    • Previous work experience/internships in Hedge Funds, Investment Banking, or (Re)Insurance is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience with one of C#, Python, R, or Java
  • Proficiency in SQL databases
  • Interest in applied AI, demonstrated through coursework, projects, internships, or work experience
  • Experience building an AI-enabled application, agent, or workflow is a plus
  • Familiarity with major Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Digital Ocean, or GCP is a plus
  • Availability for occasional travel to our offices in Bermuda and London
