POSITION SUMMARY

Allen Engineering and Science is seeking an EHS Coordinator to support the development, administration, and continuous improvement of company health, safety, and environmental programs. This role helps promote a strong safety culture by coordinating programs, maintaining records and systems, supporting training, and helping employees and managers understand and follow established requirements.

The EHS Coordinator works across departments and in partnership with Human Resources and company leadership to identify risks, monitor compliance, support incident response, and keep safety processes organized and effective. Prior EHS experience is preferred, but we are also open to candidates with the judgment, communication skills, learning agility, and technical aptitude to grow into the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and support health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures that promote a safe and compliant workplace.
  • Provide practical guidance to employees and managers on safety-related topics, safe work practices, and risk reduction.
  • Develop and coordinate safety training, educational materials, seminars, and webinars.
  • Partner with Human Resources on safety-related onboarding, documentation, and recordkeeping processes.
  • Monitor compliance, maintain required records, and support communication and reporting with governmental agencies and regulatory bodies, including OSHA and EPA.
  • Administer EHS Insight and contractor-required safety platforms, ensuring information is accurate, current, and accessible.
  • Conduct or coordinate workplace inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, and personal protective equipment evaluations.
  • Review safety data and operational practices to identify trends, process gaps, improvement opportunities, and preventive measures; support additional project needs as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Associate degree in occupational or environmental health and safety, safety management, or a related technical field.
  • Ability to learn, interpret, and apply safety regulations, company procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, accurate reports, policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Analytical ability to review information, identify trends or concerns, and communicate practical recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to provide guidance, lead training, and address unsafe conditions appropriately.
  • Excellent organization, planning, attention to detail, and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, along with the initiative to identify issues and help develop workable solutions.
  • Technical aptitude and learning agility to become proficient in EHS Insight, Microsoft 365 applications, Adobe Acrobat, Deltek Vantagepoint, and other company-supported systems.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational or environmental health and safety, safety management, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in an EHS Coordinator or similar role.
  • Occupational health and safety certification or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements, hazardous materials and practices, safety data analysis, and EHS management systems.
  • Experience administering EHS Insight or similar software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related applications.
