As a Health Information Management Specialist, you’ll help ensure that medical records are processed with precision and confidentiality—supporting care teams, protecting patient privacy, and helping keep our organization running smoothly. Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and process medical record requests in compliance with HIPAA
- Log, prepare, and send records via mail, email, or fax with accuracy and professionalism
- Prepare invoices for billed record requests and monitor timelines for release
- Scan and upload documents into the EHR and audit scanned files for quality
- Support medical records audits, chart conversions, and purging projects
- Provide excellent customer service via phone and email regarding health records
Additional responsibilities for Royal Oaks location:
- Audit discharged patient records for completeness
- Perform quality checks to ensure all scanned materials are in the EHR system
High School/GED preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a healthcare or clerical/records role preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficient in maintaining confidentiality and working with sensitive information
- Comfortable with technology, document scanning, and electronic record systems
