We are seeking a residency-trained or board-certified (ECVS/ACVS) Soft Tissue Surgeon to join our growing specialist-led team at Swift Referrals in Wetherby. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative multidisciplinary referral hospital with a strong reputation for clinical excellence across Northern and Central England.
Swift Referrals is a multidisciplinary small animal referral practice offering services in internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue surgery, and orthopaedic surgery, alongside a first opinion out-of-hours service for neighbouring practices.

About the Role & Practice
As our Soft Tissue Referral Surgeon, you will work alongside an experienced team of specialists and hospital clinicians, jointly managing a varied and rewarding soft tissue caseload. Procedures undertaken within the hospital include thoracotomies, BOAS procedures, complex abdominal surgeries including gall bladder mucoceles, oncological resections, reconstructive skin flaps, and more. Participation in both in-house and external CPD is strongly encouraged.
As the service continues to grow, there is a genuine opportunity for the right individual to progress into a Head of Service role, supporting the continued development and future direction of the soft tissue team. As the hospital continues to expand, there will also be opportunity for involvement in orthopaedic cases, allowing the right individual to further broaden their clinical exposure within a multidisciplinary referral setting.
A 4-day working week (10-hour shifts, 8am–6pm) offers a strong work-life balance, alongside participation in a shared on-call rota currently structured as 2 nights per week and 1 in 3 weekends. With a dedicated out-of-hours team in place, this commitment is primarily to provide support to hospital clinicians rather than routine on-site attendance. Flexible working requests would also be considered where possible.
We have a large and highly skilled team of veterinary professionals including Diplomates and certificate holders across surgery and internal medicine, supported by around 45 nurses, dedicated night nurses, 6 hospital clinicians, and an experienced client care team.

- 128-slice CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI
- Dedicated soft tissue and orthopaedic theatres
- Full endoscopy suite
- Digital radiography and ultrasonography

- Large intensive care facility with 24/7 veterinary and nursing supervision

Swift Referrals is based in Wetherby, ideally situated with excellent access to Leeds, York, and Harrogate. - A Veterinary degree with RCVS registration
