At Blaise, we have a specialist-led 24-hour emergency and critical care service in partnership with Vets Now, providing out of hours and emergency pet care for Birmingham and surrounding areas.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As an Out of Hours Veterinary Nurse, you will deliver advanced nursing care within our busy OOHs service, supporting the management of complex cases within an emergency setting.
You’ll work collaboratively within a large team, contributing specialist nursing expertise to patient care, supporting clinical decision-making, and sharing knowledge with colleagues to continually improve standards within your discipline.
This role will give you the opportunity to deal with a wide range of emergency and critical care cases and monitor patients from our referral services. Your role will include:
* Emergency triage and procedure nursing.
* Inpatient care within our ICU, general and isolation wards.
* Monitoring anaesthesia of emergency surgeries.
This full time role follows a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, shift times are 20:00-07:25 averaging 40hrs/week.
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
You are an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with a strong interest in emergency cases and a passion for inpatient care. You’ll bring:
* Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
* Significant experience in clinical practice with advanced nursing skills in OOHs, inpatient care and/or ECC
* Experience working with complex emergency cases in a hospital setting
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
* A commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and continuous improvement
