Position Summary

The Korea Logistics Lead is responsible for the oversight and continuous improvement of ASM’s logistics activities in Korea. The role oversees third-party warehouse operations, inventory integrity, inbound and outbound material flow, customs activities, SAP logistics transactions, and operational exception management.

This position coordinates closely with warehouse providers, customs brokers, carriers, Customer Service, Planning, CKM, Global Trade Compliance, Tax, Finance, Purchasing, Quality, and other ASM teams. The successful candidate will be a hands-on logistics leader who can maintain reliable daily execution while driving longer-term improvements in service, cost, compliance, and process ownership.

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations and 3PL Management

  • Oversee ASM’s third-party logistics (3PL) and warehouse operations in Korea
  • Lead regular warehouse business reviews, site visits, performance monitoring, and corrective actions
  • Drive improvements in warehouse capacity, workflow, staffing, safety, 5S, service, and operational efficiency
  • Manage logistics suppliers, performance expectations, and competitive bidding activities

Inventory Management and SAP Transactions

  • Maintain high inventory integrity across Korea facilities and storage locations
  • Oversee monthly book-to-book reconciliation, cycle counts, annual physical inventory, discrepancy investigation, and corrective actions
  • Ensure timely and accurate SAP transactions for goods receipt, goods issue, stock transfers, production orders, subcontract purchase orders, scrap, and other material movements
  • Coordinate inventory flow and stock transfers between Spares and CKM
  • Review nonstandard transactions and establish clear ownership and transaction flows
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, barcode-enabled controls, and other operational improvements

Exception, Claim, and Escalation Management

  • Lead the investigation and resolution of PGR and other abnormal logistics incidents
  • Manage freight claims involving damage, delays, service failures, and settlements
  • Coordinate corrective actions across warehouses, carriers, brokers, suppliers, and internal ASM teams
  • Analyze recurring issues and use performance data to improve service and reduce incident frequency
  • Escalate material risks and concerns in a factual, timely, and constructive manner

Customs and Trade Operations

  • Coordinate import and export activities with customs brokers, carriers, Global Trade Compliance, Tax, Finance, and other stakeholders
  • Support Korean customs audits, duty drawbacks, HTS classification, customs rulings, Free Trade Agreement implementation, and other duty-saving or compliance activities
  • Review abnormal declarations, corrections, repaired-part and re-export movements, duty and tax payments, and import-license requirements
  • Ensure brokers and logistics providers meet ASM’s service, billing, and compliance expectations

Cross-Functional and Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as the primary Korea Logistics contact for operational issues requiring cross-functional coordination
  • Partner with Customer Service, Planning, Quality, Purchasing, Business Operations, CKM, and other functions to resolve material-flow and process-ownership issues
  • Establish appropriate logistics ownership and transaction flows for new or nonstandard business requirements
  • Support customer-related projects and audits requiring Korea logistics expertise
  • Develop fact-based recommendations covering carrier strategy, premium-freight usage, supplier performance, cost, capacity, and staffing
  • Track operational KPIs and communicate progress, risks, and recommended actions to regional and global leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field
  • Significant experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation, customs, or supply chain operations
  • Experience overseeing third-party warehouses, logistics providers, customs brokers, or carriers
  • Strong practical knowledge of Korean import and export operations and country-specific customs requirements
  • Hands-on SAP experience with goods receipt, goods issue, stock transfers, inventory movements, production orders, or related logistics transactions
  • Strong inventory-control, analytical, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills
  • Advanced Excel skills for analysis, reconciliation, operational tracking, and performance reporting
  • Proven ability to resolve complex operational exceptions and coordinate effectively across functions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Korean and English
  • Ability to work effectively with local, regional, and global stakeholders and regularly visit logistics-provider locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the semiconductor, high-tech, spare-parts, or field-service industry
  • Experience with duty drawbacks, Free Trade Agreements, HS classification, customs rulings, import-license requirements, or customs audits
  • Experience leading logistics-provider sourcing, bidding, performance management, or cost-improvement initiatives
  • Experience improving warehouse workflow, inventory accuracy, transportation cost, or SAP-enabled logistics processes
  • Experience working in a multinational organization with complex cross-border logistics flows

Critical Capabilities for Success

  • Strong operational ownership, sound judgment, and disciplined follow-through
  • Ability to balance daily execution with longer-term process improvement
  • Confidence managing service providers and resolving issues across organizational boundaries
  • Constructive escalation and effective cross-cultural collaboration
