ABOUT THE TEAM
You'll be joining a product engineering team focused on talent discovery and employer-facing experiences. The team builds products and systems that help employers find relevant talent more efficiently.
The team works across product, engineering, data, and applied machine learning to build experiences around talent discovery, search, ranking, matching, and relevance.
You'll collaborate with a distributed team and work closely with Product, Design, Data, and Applied ML partners to build and improve experiences that help employers discover relevant candidates.
JOB SUMMARY
We're seeking a Software Engineer to support the development and maintenance of web-based applications as part of an approximately 12-month engagement.
In this role, you'll contribute to Talent Matching, Talent Rediscovery, and related employer-facing experiences. You'll work across the stack to build product capabilities and the search and matching systems behind them, with a particular focus on OpenSearch or Elasticsearch and practical applications of AI/ML to matching, ranking, and search relevance.
This is a collaborative, execution-focused engagement. You'll spend the majority of your time in the code, building features, fixing bugs, and ensuring products remain stable and performant for users.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience writing production software.
Experience with Ruby, C#, Java, or Python, with Ruby on Rails preferred.
Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including React.
Full-stack experience across backend systems, APIs, data modeling, and modern frontend development.
Production experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including indexing, query design, relevance tuning, and performance considerations.
Experience building or working with search, ranking, recommendation, or matching systems.
Practical experience applying AI/ML techniques to production applications.
Experience collaborating with Product and Design in ambiguous, user-facing problem spaces.
Ability to develop clean, efficient, maintainable, and scalable production code.
Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Ruby on Rails.
Strong experience working with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch at scale.
Experience with semantic search, embeddings, ranking, recommendation, or matching systems.
Experience applying AI/ML capabilities to real-world production applications.
Experience building evaluation, observability, testing, and feedback mechanisms for search or matching systems.
Experience with analytical databases.
Experience working in product-focused engineering teams where engineers collaborate closely with Product, Design, Data, and ML.
Strong understanding of trade-offs between relevance, latency, reliability, infrastructure cost, and user experience.
Experience working in distributed or remote engineering environments.
This is an independent contractor engagement in Argentina. Deel will serve as Contractor of Record and will contract with and pay the independent contractor. The independent contractor will provide services on a non-exclusive basis, may provide services to other clients, and will be responsible for determining the manner and means of performing the services, subject to the applicable statement of work and agreed deliverables.
